For those who want to step outside of the box and try a new taste with a delicious twist, look to Pho Saigon Noodle House in West Valley City. This little Vietnamese restaurant is located just east of the Maverick Center and has all the classic Vietnamese fair, such as Pho, Bun, and fresh Summer Rolls. First featured here is the Pho Ga, a soup with vermicelli rice noodles, chicken, and a wonderful broth made with anise and clove. A garnish dish of bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeno, and lemon grass is also included. I recommend ordering the small, as it is served in a jumbo sized bowl. The large probably comes in the kitchen sink. Second up is the Vermicelli Bun with Charbroiled Pork and Eggroll. This is a vermicelli rice noodle dish served with slices of charbroiled pork, eggroll, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, bean sprouts, lettuce, and crushed peanuts. A small bowl of fish sauce is used to cover the dish in salty goodness. Last is the Summer Rolls, which we conveniently ordered first. This type of roll is served 'fresh', meaning not fried, with shrimp, vermicelli, lettuce, carrot, cilantro, and lemon grass. They are complimented with a delicious peanut sauce for dipping. As a final note, I believe Vietnamese cuisine is a 'sweet-spot' food; it fills you up without making you full. All the fresh ingredients excite the taste buds and leave you in a state of balance. For great Vietnamese, try Pho Saigon!
