For those who want to step outside of the box and try a new taste with a delicious twist, look to Pho Saigon Noodle House in West Valley City. This little Vietnamese restaurant is located just east of the Maverick Center and has all the classic Vietnamese fair, such as Pho, Bun, and fresh Summer Rolls. First featured here is the Pho Ga, a soup with vermicelli rice noodles, chicken, and a wonderful broth made with anise and clove. A garnish dish of bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeno, and lemon grass is also included. I recommend ordering the small, as it is served in a jumbo sized bowl. The large probably comes in the kitchen sink. Second up is the Vermicelli Bun with Charbroiled Pork and Eggroll. This is a vermicelli rice noodle dish served with slices of charbroiled pork, eggroll, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, bean sprouts, lettuce, and crushed peanuts. A small bowl of fish sauce is used to cover the dish in salty goodness. Last is the Summer Rolls, which we conveniently ordered first. This type of roll is served 'fresh', meaning not fried, with shrimp, vermicelli, lettuce, carrot, cilantro, and lemon grass. They are complimented with a delicious peanut sauce for dipping. As a final note, I believe Vietnamese cuisine is a 'sweet-spot' food; it fills you up without making you full. All the fresh ingredients excite the taste buds and leave you in a state of balance. For great Vietnamese, try Pho Saigon!

Rusted Sun Pizzeria - 2010 South State Street SLC, UT 84115
The Rusted Sun is a fun little pizzeria located just off of 21st South and State in Salt Lake. I was introduced to this place just last week and instantly fell in love. It has a comfy feel inside as it only has about 6 booths and a small bar table. They serve pizza, calzones, lasagna, salads, etc. I have ordered a few different pizzas here and every one was delicious, so you can't go wrong. They offer a nice crispy crust, a choice of classic marinara, creamy alfredo, and tangy BBQ sauces, fresh toppings, and GOOD CHEESE! I want to emphasize that because cheese seems to be where others fail most frequently. The pizzas featured here are a meat creation with pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, and salami, and the Chicken Alfredo, which includes chicken, broccoli, red onion, and portabella mushroom. The also have daily lunch specials and tasty desserts! If you want a fresh, tasty pizza in SLC, check out Rusted Sun!

Tasty's Donuts - 612 N. Main St. Kaysville, UT 84037
I have to start out this blog with a selection from my native town! Tasty's Donuts is a sandwich/doughnut shop that has been around since I can remember and has always been serving up the goodies. They offer a wide array of sandwiches and doughnuts and have a breakfast menu as well (the memories of picking up some eats before high school are flooding in!). The sandwich featured here is the "Crab and Avocado". This little gem consists of freshly baked bread topped with crab salad, provolone cheese, tomato, avocado, and alfalfa sprouts. It is a wonderful contrast of flavors and textures as the salty crab and smooth avocado get a zip from the tomato and some crunch from the sprouts. This is the perfect sandwich for warm weather and it always hits the spot. One last thing to mention, all sandwich purchases come with a free doughnut! Now doesn't that sweeten the deal!
